The Bicycle Culture Community
In the Capital Regional District on south Vancouver Island, the 2022 Original Destination Household Survey results revealed 29% of trips were made by walking, cycling or taking the bus. The regional target is 45% by 2038. Five bicycle count locations show more than 300 riders per hour: at various points along the Galloping Goose and Lochside Trails. According to Statistics Canada 18.7% of commuters walk or bike to work.
There is increasing support for bicycling infrastructure at the municipal level and the Provincial level.
